My aim within sessions is to hold a warm and accepting space for you to explore and unravel the deeper workings of your self, in what can at times be a challenging and emotional ride.
Having qualified and trained in many disciplines including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnotherapy, and Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT), I am able to bring many tools and techniques that work alongside years of knowledge and wisdom gained through helping hundreds of people to live more fulfilling lives.
Here's some more detail on the two main elements that sit at the core of my approach, CBT and ACT...
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that helps identify and modify negative patterns of thinking and behaviour that contribute to mental health problems, such as PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected and can influence each other, as well as the system as a whole.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is another form of psychotherapy that aims to develop psychological flexibility through the acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to eliminate them, whilst also encouraging a commitment to taking action towards personal values and goals. ACT is based on the idea that struggling to control or avoid difficult internal experiences can lead to further suffering, and that focusing on taking action towards meaningful goals enhances well-being
You’re struggling day to day, and maybe experiencing regular bouts anxiety, stress, depression or even PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
You feel like you're on a hamster wheel, rolling around in the same old thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and you can't find a way out.
You’re looking to find your balance and ways of coping with life, as well as managing your thoughts and emotions better.
You’re open to making links between your past and your present, and you’re ready to put in the work that will help you to cultivate a more present, accepting and flexible mindset.
We will draw theory, knowledge, tools and techniques from both CBT and ACT, as well as other approaches to create a personalized plan that's right for you at this time.
Our first steps will be in developing awareness around what’s going on for you at a deeper level, and connecting the dots between your past and your present so we can see a detailed picture of your current reality.
We’ll set therapeutic goals and create a plan for our work together, aiding you in developing a stronger and more flexible mindset alongside new strategies that will help you to thrive, instead of just survive.
A key aim underpinning the process will be in helping you to cultivate increased levels of self-awareness, self-acceptance and courage, as you move towards your value-driven goals.
